Design

Design-wise, they are pretty good looking buds. They have closed back design and are in-ear earbuds with decent built quality. The earbuds look and feel very premium, at least in the all-black ones. Both of them have separate left and right marking and power button. The printed marking is however hardly visible in low light so keep that in mind. They feel lighter on the hands and have the rubber coating that makes them grippier to hold. The case that holds them is made up of Aluminium, which have a lipstick like structure that store earbuds on its both ends. Earbuds are held together with the help of magnets installed on the casing ends. Unlike others, I like this particular setup because it is very convenient to remove earbuds from the case without opening it. Apart from holding earbuds, it also charges them and has a micro USB port for charging. I would prefer a USB-C because who uses micro USB now. But the good thing is, it also has a USB-A port for charging other devices. It a slightly strange inclusion to the case but can double as a power bank in emergency situations. You can also control the charging of earbuds by the power button on the charging case. Basically, they don’t feel cheap at all and look very premium.

Pairing And Controls

Pairing them with your smartphone is quite an easy job. For the first time press and hold the power button on any earbud to make it primary earbud and then do the same with another one. The primary earbud will automatically pair itself with the secondary earbud. Then you can start searching for wireless earbuds – “xFyro xS2” on your smartphone to connect. From the next time, as soon as you remove them from the casing they start pairing to each other and then to your Bluetooth device. To turn them off, press and hold the power button on the primary earbud. You can also put them back into the casing and they will turn off. Unfortunately, they don’t have volume control buttons but the power button alone can perform these functions:

Play, pause and change the music trackReceive and end callsClick photos with a single press when the camera is onLaunch Google Assistant by long pressing the power button on either bud

Comfort

The xFyro xS2 looks amazing but the way they are built makes them hard to stay intact in ears. They are typical in-ears earphones that might not fit well with every ear size. But there is a way to adjust them in ears by wearing them horizontally instead of vertically. This might solve the issue of hooking them into your ears properly but it takes slightly more work than other earphones. Also, this also compromises the comfort factor and imagine pressing the buttons on it while they are in your ear like that. The thing is the buttons are already harder to press on these earbuds and when you press them they dig deeper into your ears, hence making it very uncomfortable. The positive side is they are very lightweight and doesn’t bother when plugged into your ears. To be honest, they didn’t do very well for me in the comfort department and fell down a couple of times while moving around. This problem could arise with people whose ear size is similar to mine because they did just fine when Hemant took them for a run. That said, they still could fell off during sudden and quick head movements which happened on a few occasions with him. He tried the earbuds for a few runs including one 11 miles run about which he posted on Instagram.

Sound Quality

The sound quality is very mediocre for my taste, nothing out of the ordinary. They offer a decent amount of bass and treble but the EQ was pretty flat and the highest could be a bit clearer. But if have an audio player with sound customization options, it could make a whole lot of difference. They are loud enough that could help you block outside sound in the gym or while traveling. Thanks to its CVC 6.0 digital noise reduction technology. Overall, they are not the best sounding earbuds out there at this price point. They will do better for genres with heavy bass but not for the vocals and lead instruments. While making and receiving phone calls I could hear the person on the other side clearly because outside noise is completely blocked. Can’t say the same about the other person, as both earbuds do have microphones in them but they are very far from the human mouth. It is not earphones fault and this problem is common with wireless earbuds. These earphones are not made for audiophile but are targeting general customers, who just want functional wireless earbuds.

Performance And Battery

The earphones can connect to your Bluetooth devices through Bluetooth 4.2 and can work from 10 meters far. While watching videos and playing online games, I did experience some audio delay sometimes. But it was fixed by turning it off and on once. They are also waterproof and dustproof that comes with IP67 certification. That means they can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for half an hour. Practically they would not work underwater because the Bluetooth signal can not transmit into the water. However, they did handle shower, light swimming, and run-ins with heavy rain according to my testing. The battery life is probably the best thing here, the case comes with the battery capacity of 850 mAh. Once emptied, it takes nearly 2 hours to fully charge the case via micro USB. Each of the earbuds has the battery capacity of 45 mAh. Under ideal conditions, it offers the continuous playback of 4 hours on a single charge. Theoretically, 850 mAh case should provide a total of 9 charges to the earbuds. But when I used it, the brick could only charge the earphone 5 times before it ran out of battery. Which was good enough to last me a week so I’m not complaining.

Pricing

It is safe to say that they are a little overpriced than they should. At the price tag of $125, they are offering a lot less than other competitors. If you want to buy them you can check out the xFyro official site and make use of their free worldwide shipping and 30-days money-back guarantee.

Verdict

Is xFyro xS2 any good? I would say yes because even if they lack in some department they make it even by excelling at other categories. The built quality is amazing, the battery life is extraordinary. These are a good fit for those who want a truly wireless experience out of their earphones. The IP67 ratings make sure that they don’t get damaged by water and dust. It was a challenge at first to stick them properly inside the ears first but slight twisting it solved the problem. Overall it checks all the important boxes except the price tag. But if you ever get them on offer or sale then go for it, they are totally worth it.
